Wilfred Wong from BevMo called me up to tell me he was on his way to Ches Panisse for lunch. Here's how our conversation went.
"Hi Kris, it's Wilfred, guess what I'm doing? he says.
"I don't know. Tasting fabulous wine somewhere?" I reply.
"Nope, going to Ches Panisse for lunch." he says.
"Ooooh. I'm so jealous! I just finished my frozen lunch and you're on your way to Ches Panisse for a business lunch. I wish I could go." I say.
"Well, I just thought you might like to know that I'm going there. You're a foodie." he says.
"Well, I'm extremely jealous. I've never been there. I want to go too!" I reply.
"Ha, ha, ha. Maybe we can go sometime." Wilfred says.
"Have a good time. Don't think about me sitting at my desk while you're eating that fabulous food, and drinking wine and I'm not. Go have fun!" I say. Nice, right?
TWO HOURS LATER.......
"Hi Kris, it's Wilfred. Lunch was amazing." he says.
"Are you calling to rub it in?" I say?
"Remember, I had a frozen dinner for lunch. Why are you doing this to me?" I whine.
He then proceeds to tell me all the fabulous food he ate, the wine, the homemade chocolate ice cream for dessert.
"Wilfred, you're mean." I say. "I want to go. Can I go next time?" I say.
"Kris, you're my favorite account person. You're so nice to work with. I'm so glad we get to work together." he says.
"Thank you, Wilfred. But you still owe me lunch." I reply.
"Women." He says.
Ok. Now that I read our conversation I realize what a brat I am. But I think it was just the incredible timing of me finishing my $2 lunch and the idea that he was on his way to Ches Panisse. I'll have to apologize to Wilfred when he gets back from his 10 DAY WINE TASTING TRIP TO ARGENTINA.
There I go again. Jealousy. It's not pretty. I need to get over it. And I really need to QUIT WHINING!
