I Changed My Mind About My Goal Weight

A funny thing happened after I reached my goal weight. I changed my mind.

Back in 2021, I decided it was time to get serious about my health. Like so many people, I'd picked up the "Covid 15" (okay...more like the Covid 13 in my case), and I wasn't feeling like myself anymore.

I started a health program, lost the weight, and eventually reached 121 pounds.

At the time, I thought I'd made it.

That was the number I'd been chasing.

Mission accomplished.

Or so I thought.

What I discovered over the next few years surprised me.

Being at my lowest weight wasn't the same as being at my healthiest weight.

Or my happiest.

To stay at 121 pounds, I had to think about food all the time.

Every meal.

Every dinner out.

Every vacation.

Every glass of wine.

Every piece of birthday cake.

And yes...every slice of Blueberry Boy Bait.

That's not how I wanted to live.

These days, I weigh about 135ish pounds.

I'm still in a healthy BMI.

I feel strong.

I have energy.

I sleep better.

I can enjoy dinner with friends without mentally calculating every bite.

Most importantly, I don't feel like I'm constantly "on a diet."

Ironically, becoming a health coach taught me that health isn't about chasing the smallest number on the scale.

It's about creating habits you can actually live with.

That's a lesson I wish someone had taught me years ago.

Because I've lost weight before.

More than once.

And, like so many people, I gained it back.

What was different this time wasn't just the weight loss.

It was learning how to maintain a healthy lifestyle without feeling deprived.

That's why I became a health coach.

Not because I hit my goal weight.

Because I learned something worth sharing.

These days, I spend less time worrying about the scale and more time paying attention to how I feel.

Am I moving my body?

Am I eating foods that fuel me?

Am I drinking enough water?

Am I taking care of myself?

Those questions matter a lot more than whether the scale says 121 or 135.

The funny thing is...

I thought success meant reaching a number.

Now I think success is finding a way of eating and living that I can happily stick with for years.

The scale still matters.

But it doesn't get the final vote anymore.

I do.

If you're struggling to find that balance, I'd love to help.

Whether you're trying to lose weight, build healthier habits, or simply feel better in your own skin, you don't have to figure it out alone.

I've been where you are.

And I know there's a healthier, happier way forward.
