It’s been quite a week. So I thought I’d lighten things up a bit… with a joke.
My brother sent this to me, and it made me laugh out loud. The kind of laugh where you immediately think, I have to send this to someone.
It also reminded me of those jokes my dad’s friends used to tell. The ones they could deliver perfectly, with just the right timing. I’ve always admired people who can tell a good joke.
Don… is not one of those people.
Sorry, honey. It’s okay, he knows it.
Anyway, if you don’t think this is funny, then there is something seriously wrong with you. Definitely nothing wrong with me. Because this joke is funny. Ha.
And to my sister Kathy—whose birthday is today—happy birthday! You always make me smile, so this one’s for you.
Also, yes… this is your present.
You’re welcome. And welcome to my world.
Here’s the Joke
A Minneapolis couple decided to go to Florida to thaw out during a particularly icy winter. They planned to stay at the same hotel where they spent their honeymoon 20 years earlier.
Because of hectic schedules, it was difficult to coordinate their travel, so the husband flew down on Thursday, with his wife planning to arrive the next day.
After checking into the hotel, the husband decided to send his wife a quick email. There was a computer in the room, so he typed up a message and hit send. Completely unaware that he had accidentally left out one letter in her email address.
Meanwhile, in Houston, a widow had just returned home from her husband’s funeral. He had been a minister who passed away suddenly from a heart attack.
Later that day, she checked her email, expecting messages from family and friends. After reading the first one, she screamed and fainted.
Her son rushed in, found her on the floor, and looked at the screen.
It read:
To: My Loving Wife
Subject: I’ve Arrived
I know you’re surprised to hear from me. They have computers here now, and you’re allowed to send emails to your loved ones.
I’ve just arrived and checked in. Everything has been prepared for your arrival tomorrow.
Looking forward to seeing you then. Hope your journey is as uneventful as mine was.
P.S. It sure is hot down here.
That’s it.
And yes… it made me laugh again.
That was funny...........on to business. Do you have a meatloaf recipe.....Dad has a taste for a good meatloaf....can't find my recipe. What wine would you suggest?

Hi Mom! I hardly ever make meat loaf, but if I did there are three places I would check for a recipe. 1)Simply Recipes site 2)Pioneer Woman site 3)My old Betty Crocker Cookbook - which used to be yours. You can click on the two sites I mentioned from my blog. It links right to them. As for wine, I would probably open a red - merlot or malbec, something like that.
ReplyDeleteHere is a link to Elise's classic meat loaf recipe from Simply Recipes.
