Running and Wine

I've added a new tab up above. It's called Team In Training.

Don (the hubby) announced to me and Elli a few weeks ago that he was going to a Team in Training meeting on Saturday. Huh? You're doing what? I responded. He then said that he was going to the meeting to see what it was all about.

Ok..........

He came home and said he had signed up to run a half marathon. Uh. I think you kind of need to run or walk fast or something to complete a marathon. Right? And I haven't seen Don do that in a long time. This is going to be a tough challenge I thought to myself.

He is really motivated. He's doing this for two people that mean a lot to us. And that is driving him. He has attended all the meetings so far. And he's gone to the high school track a few times. He had his first group run last night. He didn't do as well as he thought he would and he was a bit bummed. But he knew it would be hard and he's not giving up. I think the hardest part was the ego bust from Elli that happened before he left. He came downstairs in some running pants and Elli busted up laughing at him. Not exactly the response he was looking for. But he brushed it off and she quickly recovered and changed the subject to his shoes. She's good.

I'm hoping to train with him a little too. So I've started doing my power walks. I've never been a runner. But I want to to go out with him for some of his training sessions. I took Elli with me last Saturday morning. She was good for about the first 5 minutes then whined the rest of the way and begged to take breaks every 10 minutes. Ay yay yay.

So I've set up a tab for Don to update us on how he's doing. And give him a place to beg for money. He's pledged to raise $2,400. He's raised $500 so far. Not bad!

Now on to WINE. It is wine Wednesday after all. I haven't updated the Tres Chic Wine pics in weeks. So I have THREE for you. Woo hoo!!!

Don has been doing the grocery shopping lately and he likes going to Trader Joe's. So we've been trying more of their wines. He's gotten pretty good at picking out good ones. Or maybe Trader Joe's wine is actually getting better. I used to poo poo their wines. And I have to say I've been pleasantly surprised at some of the juice we've been drinking. So here are two reds and a white for you to try. Each wine is way under 10 bucks.
2007 North Coast Pinot Noir, One Thousand One
2009 Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel, Canard Sauvage
2009 Trader Joe's Petit Reserve Pinot Gris
So there you go. I have to go now. My funemployment has me very, very busy.

Buh bye.
