Economics and Haiti fundraiser update

The economics marketplace at school was a huge success. So was the Red Cross fundraiser for Haiti.

Cookie Economics update.....

Elli had her big Economics Marketplace yesterday at her school. I'm happy to report the cookies were a huge hit. She said they were all gone in 1 minute. She had her sales pitch all ready, "Would you like to buy a delicious butter cookie? They're fresh and tasty!" But she didn't even have a chance. Kids bombarded the table and POOF! the cookies were gone. If only that would happen in real life!

All the kids had great success with their goods. Elli came home with some really cute stuff. A paper mache dog, a dog made out of a sock, a yellow funny fuzzy, a rock painted like football for dad, and a stress ball. Because you know, 3rd graders have a LOT of stress in their lives. She plans on keeping her stress ball in her desk at school. Doesn't really seem fair to be stressed out in 3rd grade, does it?

 Help For Haiti Party recap

The party was tons of fun. A huge crowd showed up.  Everyone brought their kids so we could all have a good time and not have to worry about paying a babysitter - which are ridiculously expensive here in Marin County. Babysitters charge $15-20/hour. So needless to say we get a babysitter about once every 5 years. Just kidding. Not really.

Anyway, the bands were actually pretty good! People got on the dance floor and danced. We didn't dance, we just commented on the people dancing which is WAY more fun. And then something weird and gross happened. A man and his girlfriend started making out right in the middle of the crowd. He looked to be about 55 and she looked to be about 35. You know the type. She had blond hair which she kept tossing around, just like a high school girl. And he had thinning hair that he styled to look as cool as possible. They were OBVIOUSLY unmarried and without children and probably divorced. It was strange and gross to watch. No one wants to see a 55 year old man tongueing someone. ICK. The funny thing is none of the kids seemed to notice. But ALL the adults did. hmmmmm.

Enough of that. There is some good news! I'm sure we raised a nice chunk of change for the Red Cross and their fundraising efforts because there were hundreds of people at the party. Yeah!

  1. Do you think the woman was a "Sparkly Wife"? You are the person who introduced the term to me, and I think of you every time I use it! Sounds like a great time for a great cause.
