The Perfect Poached Egg

Elli and Don loved poached eggs. But I never make them. I don't know why, it's just not top-of-mind to poach an egg. I like them fried or scrambled myself.

So one day while I was "browsing" in Sur La Table kitchen store I came across these super cute poached egg holders. They are made of silicone from a company called SiliconeZone. Of course I had to buy them. You get two holders for $8.00.

And I'm happy to report they work beautifully. Boil some water in a pot. Butter the egg holder, add the egg and some salt and pepper. Place poacher in the pot of simmering water. Cover. Cook for 6-8 minutes. Done. Serve in the poacher or turn upside down and remove. You can also run a knife around the edge and it will gently fall out. That's what I do.

I love finding gadgets like this that work, are cute, and don't take up much space in the kitchen. Anyone else have any gadgets they use that you think I might like? I'd love to hear about them.

  1. Those are cute! I found a great recipe for eggs that included cream/butter and that would have worked perfect in those cups.
