I've been beau-ti-fied. My Chanel makeover.

On Saturday Elli and I walked into Nordstrom at just the right time. Chanel was giving free makeovers. Woo hoo! I walked right up a to a really cute girl named Jill and asked what was going on. She told me about the makeovers and invited me to get one. Fun!

Lucky for you, I never leave home without a camera. So my excellent assistant Elli was there to document the transformation.

The minute I sat down I felt the need to confess all the things I don't do. It's probably similar to sitting in the confessional at church. Once you get started you can't stop. Never mind. I'm sure people don't go on and on.

Anyhow, I suddenly felt really embarrassed about all the different products I use and my one minute makeup routine. So I asked her for some tips on using foundation so it doesn't enhance the wrinkles and she gave me tips on using eye shadow to bring out my baby blues. She was really sweet and didn't over do it so I still look like myself - only better! Of course my sweet brown nosing daughter told me I'm beautiful without the makeup. She is great for self esteem if anyone wants to borrow her for an afternoon.

Jill was just about done when another makeup artist walked up and asked when was the last time I got a makeover. Well, the last (and only other time) was when I got married - 18 years ago! I'm sure she was mortified. But she hid it well.  Needless to say, I was overdue for some make-up tips.

Did you know you're not supposed to brush your blush from your cheeks to your ear anymore?  Just a circular motion on the apple of your cheeks gives a natural glow. Who knew?

I invited Jill to come to my house every morning to do my makeup if I bought some product. She said, "Ok, sounds like a deal." Isn't that sweet? She's a hair stylist too. I hope she really does come over. Wouldn't that be awesome. We are only one exit from the mall. I could send her on her way with a cup-of-joe and breakfast.

Of course I bought some stuff. So it wasn't exactly a free makeover. But that's ok. Now we'll see how things go when I'm on my own with all my fabulous new beauty products.

  1. Good for you! I'm terrified of the ladies at the cosmetic counters - their skin is so perfect and flawless that I'm convinced they're not real people. They're clearly from another planet and I'm afraid they'll beam me to mars or something when they take a good look at my face :/
